Life is too short to take yourself that seriously.

The 8THIRTYFOUR team, took time out to reconnect, strategize and explore a small town in Northern Michigan this past week. Since we began implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS®), we

If you live in Grand Rapids, chances are you have seen the controversy surrounding the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce's decision to endorse Republican Gubernatorial candidate, Bill Schuette. 8THIRTYFOUR, along

I am not a terribly patient person, my anxiety at times is off the charts. I'm not really a 'go with the flow' individual and when it comes to travel

Most entrepreneurs and business owners fail terribly a leading. No one tells you when you start your business, that you will someday have to manage an entire team. At the

Hey, I'm Bode.
Writer of musings.

Thanks for swinging by to check out my dogs, my ideas, my super fresh perspective and all the things that annoy me in life.
I can’t wait to share all the things you never knew you needed to know.
Have You Heard?
I own 8THIRTYFOUR Integrated Communications.
Picture integrated communications as your all-in-one marketing shop. We bring together branding, design, PR, digital, video, websites, content—everything under one roof. Think of it like having a secret weapon in your back pocket.
Spoiler: we’re that weapon.

@derekdickow @powerconnections what a great event you’ve put together. So glad @smallbusinessassocofmichigan was able to be a small part of it. Looking forward to Day 2.
I can’t wait to see all the female speakers on the roster next year.

I’m on a boat.
I’m on a boat, I’m on a boat
Everybody look at me ‘cause I’m sailing on a boat (whoa)
I’m on a boat, I’m on a boat
Take a good hard look at the motherf*ckin’ boat.
(sh*t is heavy and you can be in it, like really paying attention and still set time aside to recharge - cause we gotta fight another day)

The @smallbusinessassocofmichigan Women’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship graduated the inaugural cohort. What a ride it has been.
I had no idea what to expect when mapping out the program, vetting the WOSBs, developing the curriculum, mentorship and coaching…let’s just say it exceeded all my expectations.
Congrats to the ten women who came, conquered and impressed along the way - you’re amazing.
The second cohort will launch in September, go to sbamwef.org for more info.
First photo is me feeling a bit verklempt, to which i said “goddammit Bode, get it together” very loudly into the mic.
Last photo is the plant I like to sit in at SBAM board meetings.

The @ausaorg Arsenal of Democracy knows how to throw a birthday party, and these ladies (and gents) know how to have a good time. Our picture taking could use improvement.

In D.C. for WIPP’s Legislative Fly-In.
As a board member and Chair of the Leadership Advisory Council, it’s one of my most favorite events we do, and probably most impactful.
We’re offering stories, testimony, and solutions—ready to support policy at every stage, from draft to implementation. Women-owned businesses run our economy. It’s time our policies reflected that.
Being in the room is where is starts. Big thanks to the following for taking the time:
• Congresswoman @rep_velazquez
• Congressman @lalotaforcongress
• Staff from Senator @corybooker office
• Staff from Senator Ed Markey’s office

These two dum dums had no idea what was about to transpire on their way to WIPP’s Legislative Fly-in.
I’d like to thank @delta for the system wide outage (you refused to acknowledge), while also closing your lounge at 9:30 p.m. A special thanks to the guy sitting next to me on my first flight (totally gave off dude bro vibes) for holding my drink and phone when I kept having to get up (I helped get him free miles to thank him and also showed him how to use his app), a shout out to my best friend Sue for keeping me off the no-fly list - although I changed my flight to travel with her so technically this is 100% her fault and finally big kudos to La Guardia for the horrible $22 margarita I had to order from an app and tip 15% on because humans are not allowed to speak to you - I spilled that water on purpose (which also ended up on Sue).
It’s a great time to be in D.C. when the world is burning.

“I don’t hate children. It’s not like I’m the witch in Hansel and Gretel,” said Bode. “It was never something I wanted. There are other priorities that I have in life, and I don’t think that your worth should be defined by another human you’ve created.”
Just over here living that childfree life and not eating children. @bridge.michigan article link in my bio.
